Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 31, 2026
24/7 NewsPaper is built to need as little of your data as possible. This page explains exactly what the app stores, why, and how that may change as the product grows.
The short version
- We keep as little as we can — your choices live in your browser, not a profile.
- Two small cookies hold your preferences and let your reactions persist.
- We don’t sell or rent your personal data.
What we store
Your preferences. When you finish onboarding we save a single signed cookie (tldrtalk_prefs) in your browser. It records the choices you made — your country, the genres and sources you want, and an optional local metro. It’s cryptographically signed so it can’t be tampered with, lasts about a year, and is read only to assemble your headlines. You can clear it any time from your browser, or change it from the “Edit” screen.
Your reactions. If you react to a story we set a random, anonymous identifier cookie (tldrtalk_rid) so your reaction sticks and you can toggle it off. This id isn’t tied to your identity and isn’t used to profile you.
Location. To pick sensible default sources, we detect your country from your browser’s language setting and, if that’s unavailable, from Cloudflare’s coarse, country-level edge geolocation. This happens at request time; we don’t keep a location history — only the country and metro you confirm during onboarding are stored, inside the preferences cookie above.
Looking ahead
24/7 NewsPaper is still growing. In time we may add optional accounts — so you can carry your feed across devices — and advertising to help support the service. If we do, we’ll update this policy and make any new data practices clear before they take effect. We don’t sell your personal data.
Service providers
24/7 NewsPaper runs on a small set of infrastructure providers:
- Cloudflare hosts the app and provides the edge network and country-level geolocation.
- Sentry receives technical error reports (such as the URL and browser type when something breaks) so we can fix bugs. It does not receive your reading history or the contents of your cookies.
- Cloudflare Workers AI generates the summaries. It only ever sees the public text of news articles — never your personal data.
News content and logos come from third-party publishers. When you open a story you leave 24/7 NewsPaper for the publisher’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
Cookies
We use only the two functional cookies described above (tldrtalk_prefs and tldrtalk_rid), plus a short-lived hashed key used to rate-limit reactions and prevent abuse. Blocking them won’t stop you reading, but your preferences and reactions won’t be remembered.
Children
24/7 NewsPaper isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
