Special counsel again seeks death penalty for ex-President Yoon on insurrection charges (opens original article in a new tab)
A special counsel team has again requested the death penalty for former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol during his appellate trial on insurrection charges, following a previous life imprisonment sentence. The team also seeks life imprisonment for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun. The Supreme Court rejected Yoon's request for a recusal of the appellate court bench.
