Asia's richest nation gives 5,000 children cash benefits to boost birth rates (opens original article in a new tab)

Singapore launched a financial incentive program offering up to S$16,000 for families with three or more children, aiming to address low birth rates. Around 5,000 children have received benefits under the scheme as of March, with additional support for eligible families who had children before the program's launch.

• The Large Families Scheme provides up to S$16,000 in benefits for third and subsequent children born on or after Feb. 18, 2025.
• Eligible families receive a S$10,000 Child Development Account top-up, S$5,000 MediSave Grant, and annual S$1,000 LifeSG Credits for children aged one to six.
• Over 33,000 children received LifeSG Credits in 2025, with families who had children before Feb. 2025 also qualifying under certain conditions.
