Judicial Selection Committee to convene on Sunday for first time in a year and a half (opens original article in a new tab)
The Judicial Selection Committee will meet for the first time in 18 months to address judicial appointments, following Justice Minister Yariv Levin's refusal to convene the panel since January 2025. The committee will consider appointments for magistrates' and traffic courts, while 51 vacancies are expected to increase to 67 by year's end. The High Court has ordered the appointment of judges for Haifa and Beersheba courts, and a new judicial appointments law may be struck down by the court.
