The number of children with education, health and care plans (EHCPs) in England reached a record high in 2026, with a 12.5% increase from 2025, according to government statistics. New EHCPs issued rose 13.3% in 2025 compared to 2024, continuing a growing trend since their introduction in 2014. Proposed reforms aim to replace EHCPs with individual support plans by 2030.
