Passport fees hiked as govt amends rules (opens original article in a new tab)

The Indian government amended passport rules to increase fees for new and reissued passports, effective July 1, 2026, with higher charges for both standard and expedited processing.

• Passport fees increased for ordinary and Tatkal applications effective July 1, 2026
• New fees for 36-page passports: Rs 2,500 (ordinary) and Rs 5,000 (Tatkal)
• New fees for 60-page passports: Rs 3,500 (ordinary) and Rs 6,000 (Tatkal)
