A campaigner for the Birmingham Six and several others were recognised in the British honours list for their contributions to society, including reconciliation, racing, and technology.

• A British MP, journalist, and novelist who campaigned for the release of the Birmingham Six was knighted in the British honours list.
• Two clerics from Co Fermanagh were made OBE for their work in reconciliation and peace-building in Northern Ireland.
