Canada can now participate in the Eurovision song contest after becoming a member of the European Broadcasting Union.

• Canada is now eligible to participate in Eurovision after CBC/Radio-Canada joined the European Broadcasting Union
• CBC/Radio-Canada became a full member following a vote at the union's general assembly
• The federal government had previously indicated interest in Canada joining the international song contest
