The Cabinet of Ministers in Sri Lanka has approved measures to address illegal land grabbing, unauthorized land reclamation, and illicit coastal constructions in the Eastern Province. The government established an Eastern Province Land Protection Committee and a special enforcement unit to tackle these issues, along with plans to repossess unused state lands for local development.
