BBC project to mark listeners' lives in song (opens original article in a new tab)

BBC Radio 2's 21st Century Folk project features original songs based on five listeners' life stories, including a firefighter's recovery from injury and a nurse's tribute to his late uncle.

• Hannah Lancaster's story of overcoming injury to become a firefighter is featured in BBC Radio 2's 21st Century Folk project.
• Five BBC Radio listeners had their lives portrayed in original folk songs by artists like Katherine Priddy and Martin Simpson.
• Songs will be broadcast on BBC Sounds and Radio 2 from 29 June.
